Classic Title

Sixty-six people attended the Indian Civil Service Society launch in London on 3 April 2025. It began with a short meeting in which Roddy Sale outlined the ICS Society’s purpose, which is to keep alive the spirit and fellowship that had been established in the Indian Civil Service Association, and invited attendees to volunteer their services as committee members. The Hon. Secretary of the ICS Association reported that the winding-up of the ICS Association is about to be completed. Roddy Sale then took questions from the floor before diplomat Alan Dillon’s excellent talk, ‘Curzon’s Chosen Men: Political Officers on the Periphery of Empire’, on two influential Indian political officers in Arabia, J. G. Lorimer ICS and Captain William Shakespear. This was followed by book sales and an enjoyable lunch. Further events are planned.
